Another Christmas Present We Love

Okay, this is not on the same level of love as the painting, but we do like it quite a bit.
It is our Whirely-Pop Popcorn Popper. We have some friends that are popcorn lovers and swear by it. They couldn't believe that with how much we like popcorn we didn't have a Whirely-Pop too. So, Christmas morning we unwrapped our very own. It was terrific. Well, at first but now we are obsessed. We make it all the time. The more we make, the worse (health wise) the things we top it with. I reached a new low yesterday when I made caramel popcorn. I LOVE IT!!!
So, I thought I would share the recipe with you. My mom made this recipe while I was grewing up. This recipe is from a church cook book, that might be older then me.
CARAMEL POPCORN
6 qts popped corn
2 sticks butter
2 C brown sugar
1/2 C white syrup
1 t baking soda
1/4 t cream of tartar
1 t salt (I only use a dash)
1 t vanilla
Mix butter, syrup, and brown sugar, and bring to the boiling point, let boil for 6 minutes, keep stirring while boiling. Take off heat and add cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and vanilla. Stir until foamy, pour over popped corn and mix well. (I don't do this next step because I love sticky, gooey popcorn but you might want to) Spread on cookie sheets. Bake in a 200 degree oven for 1 hour. Mixture may be pressed into popcorn balls if desired.

I will have to try this recipie-- we use this one all the time and love it(air popped popcorn and microwave to really melt the stuff on).

But I like experimenting, especially when the results are yummy. The Fredericks LOVE popcorn.
