A moment to pause

Lately, I have been feeling a little sorry for myself.  Just a minute ago, I finished reading the latest update of H's preschool classmate who is fighting Leukemia.  That caused me to pause and realize all the blessings in my life.  Lice and morning sickness will pass.  I have so much to be thankful for.

Another thought that really kept me going last week was from Corrie ten Boom's The Hiding Place.  When Corrie and Betsy were in the concentration camp, Corrie was complaining.  Betsy, her sweet sister, pointed out that we should thanks to God in everything.  Corrie asked, "Even the lice?"  Betsy said "Yes" and reminded Corrie that the guards would not come into the barracks because of the bugs.  This allowed them to be able to study from the Bible they had snuck in. I kept telling myself be thankful for the lice.

Way to look at the postive! Lets see... how can YOU be thankful for like? Maybe those bratty kids from down the street won't come over to play? haha-- but seriously- our healthy children alone is enough to be grateful for the rest of my life.

I've really got to read that book! How fitting...even down to the lice. Your positive attitude is catching on here. :-) Sorry about the lice. And I remember about your anniversary being in August. Not far off! AND, last but not least...congratulations! Can't wait to see Buddy! :-)

Well, I wouldn't be thankful for the lice - maybe that there is something to treat it with. I did not like Corey Ten Boom's book and I read it twice. Too Pollyanna for me.

Gosh we've been having the same sort of thoughts. A lady I served in YW with has a 13 year old daughter with terminal cancer. I've been feeling sorry for myself with Ethan always being sick and not sleeping. I beat myself up for feeling bad when other people have "real" trials. The Hiding Place is one of my favorites, but then again I am Pollyanaish. Love you, sounds like you are over the worst, both in pregnancy and lice.

I forgot all about that line in the hiding place, i am not sure of the blessings of Lice for me Other than I got a kendrid friend out of it. I hope NEVER to be blessed with lice again! Thanks for the positive thoughts I needed to hear this today.

I read that book. No doubt about how easy we have it. Uggg, we take so much for granted. Kennedy found the good in havig lice was that she got to spend time with her mom alone in the laundry room and have a sucker while I picked her hair. How sad for THAT to be the one on one time she is thankful for!!!
