Up!

This spring all the 1st graders launched hot air balloons their class had made.  This was part of their science unit on Solid, Liquids and Gases.
Here is the experience in R's own word and spelling.
"On Tuesday my class had the balloon lanch. Urs had a hole in it. It din't fli so hiy. Aafter I sol my mom and H. Then we went on the play stroksher. It was fun."
This is her face after her class's balloon had a hole.
Here is a picture in front of the torn balloon. There Chloe, Brinley, Kennedy, and R.
Here is the translation of her writing, in case you need it.
"On Tuesday my class had the balloon launch.  Ours had a hole in it.  It didn't fly so high.  After I saw my mom and H.  Then we went on the play structure. It was fun."

We Are Off to See the Wizard!

H's Preschool did "The Wizard of Oz" for their spring play.  Here is H seating with the Lion and a Lollipop Guild member during the play.
At this point the play must be dragging for the kids.  Look at the the Mayor of Munchin Land yawning.
H and a few other girls were the Sleeping Flowers.  One day she said, "You know I am evil.  I work for the witch.  Why am I evil?"  I just had to laugh and tell her that was the part assigned to her.  H was a very cute, evil doer.

Sung to Brahms' Lullaby
"Close your eyes, Rest your head.
Let our fields be your bed.
Have no worries, Have no fears,
Put your trust in us my dears.
As you sleep awhile,
witches watch with a smile,
For on your feet is their delight.
Close your eyes, Nightey, Night!"

Oh My Goodness!

Oh My, look what just happened!
That is right, H lost a tooth this spring.  I have never had a child lose a tooth before they started Kindergarten. We were all in shock. H was thrilled!

She was even more excited when she got her $1 from the Tooth Fairy.  The very next week she lost her other bottom tooth as well.  I must admit, I publicly accused her of making her own teeth loose because she wanted to be like her big sisters.  I must apologize since the spaces have quickly been filled with adult teeth.  H is just on the rapid schedule for getting adult teeth.

Talent Show

This spring E and R participating in their school talent show.  I am so proud of them for doing it.  They were really self motivated.  Unfortunately, their piano teacher/ mom was on the couch with morning sickness and no help. Way to get it done girls!

E played "I got Rhythm"

R played "Cowboy Joe" and "Rodeo"
R anxiously waiting to go.
(Thanks to Sister Phelon for the pictures. I wasn't even up to that at the time)
* note the beautiful hair- it was cut by the end of the lice issue...their new hair cuts are still very cute

Lice pictures

Here are the photos from our lice experience.  The hair checks, the laundry, the cleaning, the shower caps to make sure it didn't spread...Ugh! I am tired just thinking about it.

Note: The sheets on the couches and my friend's steam cleaner in the background. This picture must have been taken near the end since E isn't wearing a shower cap.

Here I am checking R hair.  I had a hair check station: a light to be able to see the bugs, the special combs to remove the eggs, clips to separate the hair, and olive oil to smother the lice.

H all smiles after her hair check. There are piles of clean laundry and the garbage bags of things we have to keep air tight for 2 weeks.
R is expressing how we all feel after all this work!

Spring Break 2010

For Spring Break this year, JR and the Girls went to JR's parents.
(I went to my parents so they could baby a sick lady)

Here is a picture one of the girls took on the airplane.
I am not 100% sure what all they did, but I know they went to the park a lot!!!!
Here is E in front of a statue at the park.
Grandpa Mike and the Girls sitting on bear statues.
H riding the baby bear statue.
There was one specific reason we wanted to go there for Spring Break this year.  Of course, we love seeing family.  We also wanted H to finally see a panda bear in real life.  Her reaction doesn't disappoint!
Here are Riley, R, H, and E with another "Panda" at the zoo.
I know that Spring Break was a great week for the Girls!
